May '26 news
In May we reached a special milestone with version 1.100.0 — our 100th feature release — and shipped a brand-new floorplan designer with rotatable and non-rectangular spaces, calendar views for spaces, a booking-per-day chart in the admin dashboard, traditional Chinese localization, and several improvements to bookings, the map view, and user settings.
🎨 New floorplan designer
May introduces a brand-new floorplan designer as an alternative to uploading an image of your room plan. Instead of preparing a floorplan in an external tool, you can now design your spaces directly in Seatsurfing — giving you full control over your layout without leaving the application.
📆 Microsoft Exchange synchronization (SaaS only)
For our SaaS users, Microsoft Exchange synchronization is now available. The integration automatically keeps your Exchange room calendars up to date whenever bookings are created, changed, or deleted in Seatsurfing — so teams can keep managing bookings in Seatsurfing while room availability stays visible in Exchange and Outlook. You can read all the details in our dedicated post: Microsoft Exchange synchronization is now available.
📐 Rotatable spaces and new shapes
Spaces can now be rotated freely, and in addition to the standard rectangle, you can now define round and trapezoidal spaces to better reflect your real-world layout. For more precise placement, an optional grid can be displayed to help you align spaces neatly.
📅 Calendar views for spaces
Spaces now offer a calendar view that gives you a clear overview of booked and free time slots at a glance — making it easier to plan ahead and find availability.
📊 "Bookings per day" chart in the admin dashboard
The admin dashboard now includes a new "bookings per day" chart that aggregates bookings by weekday, helping admins quickly understand usage patterns across the week.
🗺️ Show booker name in the map view
In the map view, booked spaces can now display the name of the person who made the booking instead of the space name — making it easier to see who is sitting where.
🌏 Traditional Chinese (zh-TW) localization
Seatsurfing is now available in traditional Chinese (zh-TW), further expanding our growing set of supported languages.
⚙️ UI and settings improvements
A few smaller but useful improvements landed across bookings and user settings:
- Confirmation dialog for booking rejections: Declining a booking request as an administrator now requires confirmation through an additional dialog, helping to prevent accidental rejections.
- Configurable week start day: The new "week start day" user setting lets each user individually define which day their week begins on.
