September was a month of polish: we shipped a large number of small improvements to usability, security and performance across Seatsurfing. On top of that, there are a few new features worth highlighting — including public bookings, a calendar view of user bookings for administrators, and a reworked custom domain administration.

🌍 Public bookings

Not every room is booked by your own employees. Think meeting rooms rented out to external partners, a coworking space for visitors, or event rooms used by guests. With public bookings, external users can now book a room themselves — without needing a Seatsurfing account.

Here's how it works:

  • Enable it per room: Public bookings are switched on individually for each room, so you decide exactly which spaces external users can book — everything else stays internal.
  • A public booking page: Enabled rooms are bookable via a publicly reachable page that you can share or link to from your website.
  • Map included if you want it: Optionally, the page also shows the floor plan, so visitors can see at a glance where the room is located.
  • Your approval process still applies: Public bookings go through Seatsurfing's standard approval process, so you stay in control of who actually gets the room.

More from September

📅 Calendar view of a user's bookings

Administrators can now view a user's bookings in a calendar layout, making it much easier to see at a glance when and where someone has booked.

🙈 Hide locations users can't book

Locations can now be hidden from users who don't have permission to book them. This keeps the Booking UI clean and avoids confusion in organizations with many locations and restricted areas.

🌐 Reworked custom domain administration

The Admin UI for managing custom domains has been redesigned to be clearer and more user-friendly.
