March '26 news
In March we shipped a broad set of updates across analytics, booking workflows, approval handling, and account security. The result is a smoother day-to-day booking experience for users and more visibility and control for administrators.
๐ Better utilization insights for admins
March brought several improvements to utilization reporting. Admins can now filter the utilization view by location, switch to week and month perspectives, and define a target utilization in the system settings.
That makes it easier to understand how office space is being used over time and to compare actual usage against your planning targets.
๐ Faster, more personal booking workflows
We streamlined the booking experience in several places. Users can now move through days faster using previous/next day buttons, and the calendar view automatically scrolls to the user's configured start working hour.
Seatsurfing also remembers more of each user's preferred view: map/list mode is now stored in the browser, the selected view mode on the "My Bookings" page is persisted, and preferred locations are highlighted in the location dropdown.
โ More control over spaces and approvals
March added more flexibility for organizations with more complex booking rules. Spaces can now be explicitly marked as enabled, and administrators get better visibility into booking permissions with additional columns such as approvers and allowed bookers in the admin lists.
We also extended booking restrictions by adding allowed booker groups on location level. For approval-based workflows, Seatsurfing now shows approval-related icons directly on maps and in the admin location UI, making it easier to see which spaces require an approval at a glance.
๐ Stronger passwords and other security hardening
Behind the scenes, March included several security-related fixes, such as CSP hardening, preventing directory listings in specific paths and new password requirements.
๐งฐ More polish across the product
In addition to the larger themes above, March also included a number of practical improvements: shorter booking links with a copy-to-clipboard button, clickable table rows for faster space editing, a custom 404 page, and a new Finnish translation.
As usual, the month also included smaller fixes in accessibility, translations, exports, and visual polish.
