October brought a whole bunch of new features to Seatsurfing: public bookings, new filters and a dark mode for the Admin UI, block periods and announcements for locations, and better support for the 24-hour time format.

🌍 Public bookings

Not every room is booked by your own employees. Think meeting rooms rented out to external partners, a coworking space for visitors, or event rooms used by guests. With public bookings, external users can book a room themselves β€” without needing a Seatsurfing account.

Here's how it works:

  • Enable it per room: Public bookings are switched on individually for each room, so you decide exactly which spaces external users can book β€” everything else stays internal.
  • A public booking page: Enabled rooms are bookable via a publicly reachable page that you can share or link to from your website.
  • Map included if you want it: Optionally, the page also shows the floor plan, so visitors can see at a glance where the room is located.
  • Your approval process still applies: Public bookings go through Seatsurfing's standard approval process, so you stay in control of who actually gets the room.

More from October

πŸ” New booking filters: multiple users and subject

The bookings list in the Admin UI got new filter options: you can now filter by several users at once, as well as by subject.

πŸŒ™ Dark mode for the Admin UI

The Admin UI now comes with a dark mode.

β›” Block periods for locations

You can now define block periods for locations. During a block period, the location can't be booked β€” perfect for renovations, maintenance work, company holidays or events.

πŸ“’ Announcements for locations

Locations can now have an announcement. Use it to inform users about anything they should know before booking β€” like construction work, changed access rules or a new floor layout.

πŸ•’ 24-hour format in calendar views and a new default time format

Calendar views now support the 24-hour time format. On top of that, there's a new "default time format" setting, so you can choose which time format is used by default in your organization.
