In April we shipped a privacy control for user-level reporting, a new kiosk mode for on-site displays, a forced password change flow for better credential hygiene, and a set of UI improvements across booking views and email notifications.

📊 Disable user-based statistics and reports instance-wide

Seatsurfing offers admins detailed statistics and reports on booking behaviour — including breakdowns per user. While this data is valuable for capacity planning, some organizations prefer not to display individual-level usage data, for example due to works council agreements, internal privacy policies, or local data protection requirements. Admins can now disable user-based statistics and reports for the entire instance with a single setting.

🖥️ Kiosk mode

April introduces a new kiosk mode that can be enabled per space. When active, the current booking status of the space is displayed in a clean, read-only view — designed to be shown on a tablet or dedicated screen placed on-site, for example at the entrance of a meeting room or next to a desk area.

🔑 Forced password change on next login

When an admin sets or resets a user's password manually, the user will now be prompted to choose a new password immediately upon signing in.

🎨 UI improvements

A handful of smaller but useful improvements landed in the booking view, email notifications, and the approval workflow:

  • Next available time in tooltips: When hovering over an occupied seat in the booking overview, the tooltip now shows the next available booking slot — so users can quickly see when a space will be free.
  • Deep links in automated emails: Automated emails such as booking confirmations now include direct links to the relevant pages in Seatsurfing, making it faster to review or manage a booking straight from the inbox.
  • Confirmation dialog for booking rejections: To prevent admins from accidentally declining or approving a booking request, a confirmation dialog was added.
  • Live approval counter updates: The count of pending approvals in the admin UI now updates immediately when a booking is approved or rejected, without requiring a page reload.
